K–8 Music Teacher

Position Summary:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction in foundational music concepts to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. This role emphasizes fostering artistic expression, building musical skills, and preparing students for performances, with a focus on string instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a comprehensive K–8 music program focused on strings aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum

  • Design and deliver dynamic, objective-driven lessons that promote musical growth and creativity

  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate performance through progress reports and report cards

  • Foster a positive, structured classroom environment using the MVRCS assertive discipline model

  • Collaborate with Specials department colleagues and the assigned Assistant Director to ensure program consistency

  • Participate actively in staff meetings and professional development opportunities

  • Support and contribute to school-wide events, concerts, and performances

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education required

  • Experience teaching music and/or conducting string ensembles

  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Strong classroom management and organizational abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to student development and performance excellence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to assess student learning and adjust instruction accordingly

  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

  • Knowledge of state and federal education laws and school policies

  • Must successfully complete applicable MTELs within one year of employment

Position Details:
This is a full-time, 11-month position subject to annual performance evaluation.
